Attn: Virginia Employers in Anthem Balanced Funding (ABF) Small Group Plans

The 1095-B form tells how long employees had minimum essential coverage for IRS reporting purposes. Virginia employers in ABF Small Group plans have until February 28, 2020 to file these forms with the IRS.

The IRS requires that filed forms include full employee Social Security numbers (SSNs) and Employer Identification Numbers (EINs). Please check all forms to make sure they display complete SSNs and EINs before filing with the IRS. Some forms previously posted on EmployerAccess may include truncated numbers -- employers can give these to employees with no issue.

Updated 1095-B forms for all ABF Small Group plans will soon be posted on EmployerAccess. However, employers do not need to wait for these to be posted; they may manually add the full numbers before filing.

Employers can follow these instructions and re-submit corrected forms if they already filed them with incomplete numbers. The same document tells how to request a filing extension past the February 28 deadline, as needed.

Attn: Plan Update for Anthem Clients!

The following Plan Update was made available on February 24, 2020... Anthem has not reached an agreement with Pediatric Specialists of Virginia LLC. That means Pediatric Specialists of Virginia LLC will leave Anthem plans on March 31, 2020.

Because of this change, you may pay more for care from Pediatric Specialists of Virginia LLC starting April 1, 2020. See the complete list of pediatric doctors and health care facilities that are in your plans.

Anthem will continue to work with Pediatric Specialists of Virginia LLC and let you know if they reach an agreement. Get updates at anthem.com. Contact your sales rep with any questions.

Let's Talk Health Insurance

Individual Health Insurance Policies:

Individual health insurance policies can be purchased directly from Anthem with no income-based subsidies, or they can be purchased through the Marketplace, which offers income-based subsidies and reduced deductible limits.

The open enrollment window for both methods begins November 1, 2019 and closes December 15, 2019. “Special Enrollment” exceptions to this window apply only if you meet certain conditions, such as marriage, divorce, adoption, loss of employment, etc. These exceptions will be looked at closely.

December 15, 2019, is the cut-off day for coverage starting January 1, 2020. This is 45 days in total to enroll in health insurance coverage! Start early to avoid the rush!
